Regan began her dancing journey when she was 8.
It all started with the compulsory Dance Fever Program at her primary school. Regan competed in the Combined School’s Competition at the end of the program, and when her dance partner didn’t show she was given the opportunity to dance in the next grade up. Regan walked away with a first place ribbon, a few weeks of free dance lessons, and an itch for dancing. After Regan’s prize lessons were done, continuing her dancing at that time was not an option, and so she gave it away for a time. However, Regan was already a dancer at heart and always wanted, more than anything, to get back into it.
When Regan was in grade 10, she decided to Homeschool. During that time she watched many endless dance videos, and became super invested in the comments on Dancing with the Stars. She loved watching the dances, but was intrigued to hear what the judges had to say. She began dancing around the house, even more than usual! Regan believes that any kind of dance is better than no dance at all, but ballroom has always been her love. Her mum tried to convince her to rejoin a studio as part of her homeschooling, but she just didn’t know where to start.
After many hours of endless searching, she had found Long-Steps Dancing. With nerves acting as her best friend, and being the shy young girl she was, she eventually gave them a call; this was the best thing she could have done. Many thoughts went through her head, and she nearly drove away that first night, but her mindset changed and she decided to just give it a go. 10 minutes in and she was hooked. She fit in well, found her people, and the smile is very rarely wiped off of her face whenever she is on the floor. Her feet are always moving, even outside of dancing.
6 months later, Regan began her position of Administrative Assistant at Long-Steps and is currently working through her Sapphire Awards with Comdance and is on her way towards earning her Associate Instructor Stripes. Regan is always coming up with new ideas and is currently leading the charge to bring Little-Steps Dancing for Kids back with an all new program for Homeschool children like herself. Regan assists in class and helps out whenever and wherever she can within the studio.
